Revenues from its newly acquired CardioDynamics unit contributed to an 8% increase in revenue for compact-ultrasound developer SonoSite in its first quarter.
For the period (end-March 31), the Bothell, WA-based vendor had revenues of $56 million, up from the $51.8 million booked in the first quarter of 2009. The firm had net income of $1.4 million, compared with net income of $900,000 a year ago.
Excluding CardioDynamics, SonoSite would have posted a 2% increase in revenue. In encouraging news, SonoSite's U.S. hospital channel generated 12% revenue growth, according to the firm.
Also, 20 of 25 revenue regions achieved or exceeded forecast, the company said.
