Ultrasound vendor Aloka plans to begin U.S. shipments this month of its ProSound Alpha 6 ultrasound scanner.
Launched internationally in August 2009, ProSound Alpha 6 is targeted at the ob/gyn, general imaging, and urology office markets. It builds on Aloka's ProSound Alpha 10 and Alpha 7 scanners and features a high-power processor that allows a number of different imaging modes previously seen only in high-end systems, according to the company.
The scanner is available with 3D/4D imaging as an option, and it includes a full suite of application-specific probes and software, customizable reports, and network/electronic medical record connectivity capabilities. It also includes a programmable touchscreen for quick access to frequently used controls, the Wallingford, CT, company said.
Aloka plans to highlight ProSound Alpha 6 at the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) meeting in San Francisco next week.
