U.K. ultrasound training developer MedaPhor of Cardiff has signed Rotherfield Technologies of Bradenton, FL, as a nonexclusive U.S. distributor for its ScanTrainer ultrasound training simulator.
ScanTrainer uses SensAble Technologies' Phantom haptic device to provide a touch-enabled training experience, allowing sonography trainees to "feel" what they see on the computer screen, according to the Cardiff-based spin-off of Cardiff University.
Using computer training modules, trainees can develop cognitive skills and eye-hand movement coordination without the need for an ultrasound machine, patient, or direct supervision by an expert, MedaPhor said.
