Ultrasound and radiotherapy products developer CIVCO Medical Solutions has debuted its eTrax needle tracking system for use with Ascension Technology's 3D Guidance medSafe magnetic tracker for surgical navigation.

eTrax features a general-purpose electromagnetic sensor that enables physicians to track the tip of a needle using electromagnetic technology and real-time navigation in the interventional suite, according to CIVCO. It's now compatible with imaging systems with navigation technology, 3D Guidance medSafe trackers, and Ascension's driveBay trackers, CIVCO said.

In other CIVCO news, the firm's Infiniti needle guidance systems is now available for use with the LA533 transducer from ultrasound vendor Esaote.
