Siemens Healthcare has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance for release 2.0 of its Acuson SC2000 volume imaging ultrasound system.
The new version features significant performance imaging enhancements aimed at improving workflow and patient outcomes, according to the vendor. New applications include volumetric color Doppler and the ability to quantify 3D proximal isovelocity surface area for assessing the severity of valvular disease, Siemens said.
The company has also included a package for automated left ventricle analysis, Siemens' In Focus coherent image-forming technology, and support for volumetric intracardiac echocardiography.
eSie PISA is a volume analysis application that enables SC2000 to obtain semiautomatic quantification of the proximal isovelocity surface area (PISA) from 4D color Doppler data, the company said. In other release 2.0 features, Siemens has added its eSie VVI (velocity vector imaging) technology, which displays cardiac contraction-relaxation mechanics.
