Hitachi Aloka Medical has signed an agreement to become the exclusive worldwide distributor of the Sofia automated breast ultrasound (ABUS) system from iVu Imaging.
The agreement is an expansion of an earlier agreement to distribute in North America, according to the companies. In addition to sales and marketing, the collaboration will focus on developing new technologies for the earlier detection of breast cancer.
By integrating Hitachi Aloka's transducer into Sofia, an entire breast volume can be acquired in 52 seconds, with an average image interpretation time of less than two minutes per case, iVu said.
