Samsung Medison has released an upgrade to its RS80A ultrasound scanner.
RS80A with Prestige includes Samsung's S-Fusion protocol, which can compare the body parts intended for diagnosis through ultrasound imaging with CT or MR imaging simultaneously for analysis. S-Fusion allows data autoregistration that aligns CT or MR imaging within 30 seconds.
Also a part of RS80A with Prestige, S-Shearwave helps analyze the characteristics of body tissue without biopsy and provides numerical measurements of stiffness using the shear wave produced around the region of interest, the firm said. The function provides a reliable measurement index (RMI) and statistics for repeated measurements including median and standard deviation.
The upgrade also includes Samsung's 3D technology, Natural Vue, which strengthens morphological expressions. Natural Vue can show even a minute protrusion, Samsung added. The system also features an arterial analysis mode, which analyzes both the morphology and function of vessels.
Samsung will first launch RS80A with Prestige in South Korea and European countries, followed by the U.S. in August and the Middle East in September, targeting research and general hospitals.
