Medical image management firm Trice Imaging announced that its Tricefy technology has been integrated into ultrasound developer Fujifilm SonoSite's iViz portable ultrasound device.
iViz, which recently received the CE Mark in Europe and is pending U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance, now includes Trice sharing, collaboration, and routing software embedded in the system. Trice is a Web-based medical image sharing, collaboration, and routing platform that sends medical image information directly from imaging devices.
As part of an existing relationship, Trice Imaging and Fujifilm SonoSite worked together on a project in Morocco that was awarded the 2015 Groupe Speciale Mobile Association (GSMA) Global Mobile Award. Funded by Qualcomm, the project used portable ultrasound units and 3G connectivity to improve care for women in developing countries through early detection and treatment of major causes in maternal mortality. Nearly 600 exams were wirelessly transmitted to clinicians, resulting in lower costs per patient and a decrease in time from two weeks to less than 24 hours per diagnosis.
