The Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS) has published job description templates for sonographers.
The society's Model Job Descriptions are now available for the following roles: staff sonographer, lead sonographer, advanced sonographer, and sonography manager, SDMS said.
The publication is the result of a survey of its membership that SDMS conducted last year, which included a request for members to submit their current job descriptions. An SDMS work group analyzed the data to produce the templates, which include most common daily activities and responsibilities for each position.
The templates should be considered as a starting point for creating and updating current sonographer job descriptions, SDMS said.
