Toshiba America Medical Systems contributed its Viamo ultrasound scanner for a recent pediatric surgical mission to Tanzania.
Working with the Mending Kids surgical care initiative, personnel from Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center used the ultrasound system to evaluate pediatric patients with anorectal malformations, according to the vendor. They also trained local medical staff and performed 15 lifesaving surgeries at Bugando Medical Centre in Mwanza, Tanzania, Toshiba said.
