NH passes sonography licensure bill

Gov. Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire has signed into law a sonographer licensure bill, according to the Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SDMS).

SB 330 creates a seven-member board of medical imaging and radiation therapy and names the New Hampshire Office of Professional Licensure and Certification as responsible for the licensure of sonographers. This office will work with the governor to appoint members to the board, which will include one sonographer, according to the SDMS.

New Hampshire is the fourth state to pass sonographer licensure legislation, joining New Mexico, North Dakota, and Oregon, the SDMS said. The new law will go into effect on July 1.
