Rotary Clubs donate ultrasound unit to Ghana hospital

In hopes of reducing maternal and infant mortality rates, the Rotary Club of Nanaimo in British Columbia, Canada, and the Rotary Club of Sunyani Central in Ghana have teamed up to donate an ultrasound system and related accessories to Bechem Government Hospital in Kumasi, Ghana, according to a report from the Ghanaian Chronicle posted on AllAfrica.com.

Musah Biyira Al-Hassan, president of the Sunyani Central Rotary Club, said the ultrasound system -- valued at almost 18,000 Ghanaian cedi ($4,540 U.S.) -- will be used to monitor normal fetal development and screen for any potential problems, according to the article.
