UC-Care releases MR/TRUS prostate biopsy system

Israeli medical device firm UC-Care has introduced its Navigo MR/transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) fusion biopsy device for prostate cancer.

Navigo fuses previously captured prostate MR images with live TRUS images while the ultrasound transducer is inserted during the biopsy, according to the vendor. It can also fuse past and present biopsy procedures and can provide 3D modeling of the prostate and localization of a cancer, even without an MRI, UC-Care said.

The company has also unveiled SmartBx, a prostate biopsy core preservation and management system that works with Navigo. Radiologists, urologists, and pathologists can collaborate using Navigo with SmartBx, UC-Care said.

Navigo and SmartBx are distributed in the U.S. by Axella BioVentures.
