Sonographers and MSK pain | Dealing with accreditation site surveys | 3D printing in the UAE

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

Are you a sonographer who's been scanning with musculoskeletal pain? You're not alone, but there are steps you can take to alleviate the discomfort.

That's according to a story on a new survey we're featuring in our Ultrasound Community. Performed by researchers from Sweden, the survey assessed the experiences of 300 sonographers to correlate those who were experiencing musculoskeletal pain with their working conditions.

As you might imagine, those with more stressful work environments had higher levels of MSK pain. But there are simple adjustments that sonographers can make to improve their working conditions. Find out what they are by clicking here, or visit the community at ultrasound.auntminnie.com.

Dealing with accreditation site surveys

One of the more aggravating components of the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act of 2008 (MIPPA) is site accreditation. Mandatory site surveys are part of the deal, and handling them can be a headache for imaging facilities.

Fortunately, the American College of Radiology (ACR) is here to help. In a new column in our Imaging Leaders Community, Marion Boston from the ACR provides advice on what to expect and how to prepare for a site validation survey, based on the group's activities in helping facilities meet the MIPPA criteria.

The article lists the types of deficiencies the ACR commonly encounters when advising customers on site validation surveys, as well as tools to help you navigate the process. Read more by clicking here, or visit the community at leaders.auntminnie.com.
