ASE debuts new educational offerings

The American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) has released Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) in Structural Heart Disease, a DVD aimed at cardiologists, cardiac anesthesiologists, fellows, sonographers, and others involved in procedural image guidance with TEE.

Containing more than 35 real cases to review and analyze, the DVD illustrates the utility of real-time 2D and 3D TEE in interventional echocardiography, as well as the procedure-specific imaging needs in diagnosing and managing structural heart disease, according to the society. It will also feature the DVD as its product of the month for November.

In other ASE news, the society said it will launch a new online, open-access journal in early 2017 focusing on cardiovascular imaging case reports. The ASE is now accepting submissions for the journal, which will be called CASE. Dr. Leonardo Rodriguez of the Cleveland Clinic and sonographer Karen Zimmerman of the Webber Heart Center in Michigan will serve as co-editors in chief.
