AIUM to honor ultrasound leaders

The American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) has announced its 2018 class of national award recipients, recognized for leadership and innovation in medical ultrasound.

Honorees include the following:

  • Dr. Roberto Romero of Wayne State University will receive the William J. Fry Memorial Lecture Award.
  • Thomas Yellen-Nelson, PhD, of the University of California, San Diego will receive the Joseph H. Holmes Basic Science Pioneer Award.
  • Dr. Wesley Lee of Texas Children's Hospital will receive the Joseph H. Holmes Clinical Pioneer Award.
  • Dr. William Middleton of Washington University in St. Louis will also receive the Joseph H. Holmes Clinical Pioneer Award.
  • Dr. Alfred Abuhamad of Eastern Virginia Medical School will receive the Peter H. Arger, MD, Excellence in Medical Student Education Award.
  • Tracy Anton of the University of California, San Diego will receive the Distinguished Sonographer Award.

Recipients will be honored in March during the AIUM annual meeting in New York City, the organization said.
