Clarius Mobile Health has released an ultrahigh frequency, handheld ultrasound scanner called Clarius L20 HD.
The device was designed to offer high image quality from the skin line to 4 cm, and it has a frequency range of 8 MHz to 20 MHz. It is intended for applications such as musculoskeletal, rheumatology, podiatry, plastic surgery, microsurgery, pediatric anesthesia, and line placement imaging.

It retails for $6,900, much less than traditional cart systems that can sell for $35,000, the company said.
