Olympus and Hitachi have signed a five-year contract to continue their alliance in the development of endoscopic ultrasound systems (EUS).
Hitachi and Olympus have been working together since the 1980s on endoscopic ultrasound scanners, with Hitachi supplying ultrasound technology to work with Olympus endoscopes. The deal announced this week will continue that alliance.
The companies noted that the agreement will be in force after Hitachi completes the sale of its diagnostic imaging business to Fujifilm, a deal that was announced in 2019.
