Hoya subsidiary Pentax Medical said that a five-year supply deal with Hitachi announced last July will become effective as of March 31.
The delay was in part due to complications of Fujifilm Medical Systems' purchase of Hitachi due to COVID-19, Hoya said.
Hitachi will provide Pentax with diagnostic ultrasound systems and ultrasound sensor-related parts for Pentax's endobronchial ultrasound scope. Clinicians use the scope to stage treatment for liver, pancreatic, and bronchial cancers, Hoya said.
