Computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) developer R2 Technology of Los Altos, CA, has received approval from the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare to sell its ImageChecker system for use in breast cancer screening. ImageChecker will be marketed in Japan by Marubeni America, which signed a distribution agreement in May 1999 to distribute the film-based version of ImageChecker. ImageChecker is the first CAD system to receive clearance for use in Japan, according to Marubeni America.
