A Senographe 2000D digital mammography unit by GE Medical Systems has been installed at Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh. It is the first clinical installation of a digital mammography unit in western Pennsylvania, according to the UPMC Health System.
Hospital officials said they would perform traditional x-ray as well as digital exams on some patients, such as asymptomatic women with dense breast tissue, in order to compare the results of the two systems.
