BioLucent unveils mammography pad

Patient comfort products firm BioLucent has released Woman's Touch MammoPad, a pad designed to make mammography more comfortable. MammoPad is a soft foam cushion made of radiolucent material, according to Aliso Viejo, CA-based BioLucent.

The adhesive-backed, single-use cushion can be used on all standard mammography equipment for screening and diagnostic breast imaging, according to BioLucent. The firm claims its radiolucent material is completely invisible and artifact free on mammography images.

MammoPad is placed on the compression plates of a mammography device before a mammogram, both to cushion the breast and to ease discomfort caused by the pulling of breast skin during the procedure, according to the vendor. MammoPad has received Food and Drug Administration clearance. By AuntMinnie.com staff writers
