Fuji hits digital mammo milestone

Fujifilm Medical Systems USA said it has sold more than 200 of its FCR 5000MA full-field digital mammography (FFDM) systems to customers around the world. The Stamford, CT-based company began selling the system overseas in early 2001.

More than 1,000 facilities are using Fuji's CR systems for mammography, according to the vendor. Fujifilm said that U.S. clinical trials are underway for FCR 5000MA's use in mammography, and that it hopes to receive Food and Drug Administration clearance in the second half of 2003.
