Computer-aided detection developer R2 Technology of Los Altos, CA and mammography firm Fischer Imaging of Denver have entered into a development and marketing agreement. R2’s computer-aided detection (CAD) technology will be customized for use with Fischer’s SenoScan full-field digital mammography (FFDM) system.
Under the agreement, Fischer will have sole worldwide distribution rights to its SenoScan FFDM system integrated with R2’s CAD technology. The combination of the two devices will require Food and Drug Administration approval for clinical use in the U.S. The companies are each preparing the FDA pre-market approval supplements to obtain clearance.
