Computer-aided detection (CAD) developer R2 Technology, and women's imaging and digital x-ray firm Hologic of Bedford, MA, have entered into a development agreement to customize CAD technology for use with the Lorad Selenia amorphous selenium full-field digital mammography (FFDM) system.
During the three-year agreement, Bedford, MA-based Hologic will have worldwide distribution rights to combine its FFDM product with the CAD technology of Los Altos, CA-based R2. The combined devices will require U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for clinical use in the U.S. The companies are currently working together to prepare FDA pre-market approval supplements.
