Image processing software developer Advanced Image Enhancement (AIE) and women's imaging vendor Hologic said that radiologists at Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, MA, have reported favorable results using AIE's software with Hologic's Lorad Selenia digital mammography system.
The study found that the AIE software allowed radiologists to reach an opinion with more confidence in 20% to 70% of the case studies, depending on the radiologist, according to AIE of Providence, RI, and Hologic of Bedford, MA. When asked to rate the AIE software's ability to improve the conspicuity and detail of calcifications, the radiologist participating in the study rated the software superior in 88% of the case studies.
The study also involved researchers from Brigham & Woman's Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, and Faulkner Hospital in Massachusetts.
