Insurance company Aetna has announced that it will allow back claims for mammography CAD services.
Between April 17 and July 14, physicians may submit and/or resubmit claims related to CAD mammography services (CPT codes 76082 and 76083) provided to members between January 1, 2004, and March 31, 2005, according to the Hartford, CT-based firm.
Aetna is taking the action to settle a class action lawsuit that was filed because the payor's system did not recognize the CAD codes during the above time periods, and as a result the firm had denied claims for CAD services.
Physicians can submit new claims or resubmit previously denied claims for the codes by following the process described on Aetna's Web site.
