Hologic of Bedford, MA, reported record revenues, earnings, and backlog in its fiscal 2006 second-quarter results.
For the period (end-March 25) revenues totaled $101 million, a 46% increase compared to revenues of $69 million booked in the second quarter of fiscal 2005. Hologic reported net income of $11 million, up robustly from the $6 million reported for the same period in fiscal 2005. The firm also noted that it had a record backlog for the quarter of $153.1 million.
The company said the improvement in quarterly earnings primarily reflects the increase in product sales of its Selenia full-field digital mammography (FFDM) systems in the second quarter over the same period last year.
For the first half of the current fiscal year, Hologic's revenues increased 40%, to $189 million compared with revenues of $135 million in the first half of fiscal 2005. Hologic has also recognized net income of $16.9 million, compared with net income of $10.6 million for the comparable six-month period in fiscal 2005.
