Sectra gets grant for low-dose mammography

Swedish PACS and digital mammography developer Sectra has received a grant for 3.6 million euros ($4.8 million) to investigate low-dose high-resolution mammography technology.

The project, called the High-Resolution X-ray Imaging for Improved Detection and Diagnosis of Breast Cancer (HighReX) project, will develop new imaging methods based on Sectra's photon-counting detector technology.

Sectra will develop and evaluate novel methods for breast cancer detection and diagnosis, such as 3D/tomosynthesis, dual-energy, and contrast mammography, as part of the project. Mammography physicians from several European breast imaging centers are involved in the project to test and evaluate the new imaging techniques and compare them to existing methods, Sectra said.
