Cytyc stockholders have approved the Marlborough, MA, company's proposed merger with Bedford, MA-based Hologic.
Hologic shareholders on the day also gave their collective thumbs up to the transaction.
On May 20, Hologic and Cytyc entered into a definitive agreement to merge in a cash and stock transaction. Cytyc stockholders will receive 0.52 of a share of Hologic common stock and $16.50 in cash for each share of Cytyc common stock they own.
The transaction, expected to close early next week, is valued at approximately $6.2 billion.
