Susan G. Komen for the Cure has doled out a nearly $1 million grant to support breast tomosynthesis research.
The grant, which was given to Ioannis Sechopoulos, PhD, of Emory University, will support research designed to measure how much radiation is delivered to glandular tissue in a person's breast during a breast tomosynthesis study.
In a statement, Sechopoulos said that the research should generate methodology and data that will ultimately help calculate individual screening doses that deliver the best imaging without exceeding safety limits.
