Hologic posts Q2 revenue growth

Women's imaging vendor Hologic saw revenue grow 3.2% in its second fiscal quarter (end-April 1), while net income for the period rose dramatically.

For the quarter, the company reported sales of $715 million, up 3.2% from $693.3 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2016. Hologic posted net income of $526.8 million, compared with $68.9 million in the same quarter a year ago. Hologic attributed the increase to the divestiture of its blood screening business and the purchase of Cynosure, a provider of women's health products such as body contouring, hair removal, and skin revitalization.

Within its Breast Health division, Hologic reported second-quarter revenues of $280.5 million, up 1.7% from $275.8 million in the corresponding quarter of 2016.

For the six-month period, the company reported revenues of $1.4 billion, up from $1.3 billion in the same period in 2016. Net income for the six-month period was $613.3 million, compared with $153.8 million in 2016, Hologic said.
