The American College of Radiology has acquired the My CT Colonography center online locator tool from Bracco Diagnostics and also launched a free toolkit aimed at helping referring physicians talk to patients about breast screening.
My CT Colonography is a searchable database that's designed to help patients find a center that provides CT colonography (CTC) near their location. As the locator currently includes only 150 of the estimated 700 centers that offer CTC, the ACR is now working with stakeholders to achieve its goal of having all centers registered in the database. Facilities can add themselves to the database by visiting the ACR's website.
The ACR has also introduced a toolkit, "Talking to Patients About Breast Cancer Screening," for radiologists to share with referring physicians. The toolkit aims to help providers identify and assess reliable breast cancer screening and outcomes data, discern actual breast cancer screening risks versus benefits, and discuss with patients when to be screened to avoid unnecessary death and treatment due to late breast cancer detection resulting from a lack of screening, according to the ACR. Referring physicians can also earn continuing medical education credit upon completing an online module.
