Three-dimensional software developer Vital Images reported record revenue of $3.3 million in its first quarter, 47% better than the $2.3 million it booked last year. The revenue gains did not carry the Minneapolis-based firm to profitability, however.
For the period (end-March 31), Vital Images had a net loss of $622,000, compared with a net loss of $665,000 in the first quarter of 2000. For 2001, president and CEO Albert Emola estimates continued revenue growth of 45% to 55%, with profitability expected in the fourth quarter.
