MediView closes $24M Series A funding round

Medtech firm MediView has closed a $24 million Series A funding round to accelerate the commercialization and development of its augmented-reality (AR) surgical navigation and imaging platform.

The round was led by GE HealthCare (GEHC), with investment from Cleveland Clinic, Mayo Clinic, Edge Ventures, the investment arm of Emplify Health, and JobsOhio Growth Capital Fund.

According to Cleveland-based MediView, the funding will speed the clinical validation and global expansion of its surgical navigation and imaging platform, as well as grow its operational capacity to meet increasing demand.

The AR platform, which has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), fuses 3D CT scans with live ultrasound. It enables practitioners to visualize 3D anatomy through a patient's skin during medical procedures and interact with 3D patient data and live medical imaging in real time, MediView said.
