AuntMinnie.com Advanced Visualization Insider

Dear Advanced Visualization Insider,

Thanks to advanced software and fast computers, sophisticated 3D patient models can now create accurate graphic representations of numerical image data from any imaging modality, or a combination of modalities.

When combined with the body's physiological processes, the resulting models can be a powerful marriage of function and anatomy that is useful for evaluating biological processes in specific anatomic regions, according to a talk at the 2006 Computer Assisted Radiology and Surgery (CARS) meeting. As part of our continuing coverage from CARS, staff writer Eric Barnes examines this dynamic in the second installment of a series on 3D and virtual reality.
