3D printing technology firm Stratasys has donated a series of 3D printers to the University of Minnesota Medical School's Visible Heart Laboratories in Eden Prairie.
The printers include Stratasys' its J750 Digital Anatomy device and its MakerBot Method X and Sketch printers.
The printers produce anatomic models that can be physically manipulated like actual human tissue, the company said.
The Visible Heart Laboratories support medical research, student and physician education, and medical device product development and testing, according to Stratasys. They have a collection of 800 human hearts that can be recreated with 3D printing technology for education and medical device testing and development.
