Interventional technology providers Boston Scientific of Natick, MA, and Indianapolis-based Guidant have announced the settlement of all outstanding litigation between the companies. A number of lawsuits pending in U.S. and European courts saw each firm accusing the other of patent infringement involving coronary stent delivery systems and dilatation catheters.
Under terms of the settlement, the companies have agreed to license certain patents to each other. They have also agreed on certain financial terms; however, these are on hold pending the outcome of motions and appeals in three cases still underway involving stent patents, stent delivery system patents, and dilatation catheters. All other disputes between the companies will be immediately dismissed, the companies said.
