GE and HealthGate team up on Olympics Web site

Viewers of the Sydney Olympics can visit http://www.NBCOlympics.com to access continually updated information on athletes' sports injuries, according to GE Medical Systems of Wakusha, WI. GE will provide medical imaging information for the site, while online health information and ASP provider HealthGate Data of Burlington, MA, will offer comprehensive information about athletes' injuries during the games, and sports injuries in general.

The site will explain causes, symptoms, diagnoses, treatments, and prevention of more than 70 kinds of injuries that affect athletes at all levels, GE said. The Olympics offer a timely opportunity to raise awareness about sports injuries, according to Paul Mirabella, president and CEO of GE Medical Systems-Americas.

The site will contain news accounts of athletes' injuries, as well as descriptions of how the injury occurred, and how such injuries are treated. Information about medical imaging systems commonly used to help diagnose specific injuries will be provided via a link to the GE Medical Systems Web site, GE said.
