Ultrasound developer Misonix has completed its acquisition of Fibra Sonics, a Chicago-based manufacturer of ultrasound devices for surgical applications. The deal will provide Misonix with access to the neurology, urology, and ophthalmology markets, and will also strengthen the firm’s presence in the cosmetic surgery sector, according to Misonix president and CEO Michael McManus.
Misonix will move Fibra Sonics’ engineering and production operations to Misonix’s Farmingdale, NY, facility, McManus said. Misonix paid $1.8 million in cash and assumed certain liabilities of Fibra Sonics. In addition, Misonix will make an additional payment of up to $1.2 million based upon the achievement of certain revenue targets.
