SNN debuts Fluoro 2.0 navigation system

Surgical Navigation Specialists is displaying its Fluoro 2.0 fluoroscopic navigation system at this week's American Association of Neurological Surgeons meeting in Toronto. The new image-guidance software allows surgeons to perform surgical navigation using fluoroscopic images immediately upon acquisition in the operating room, according to the Mississauga, Ontario-based subsidiary of Cedara Software.

With Fluoro 2.0, users can manipulate images without any restrictions before and after capture with techniques such as flip, rotate, and field-of-view adjustments on the fly, according to SNN. As such, C-arm repositioning and repetitive exposures are reduced, according to the company.

The firm's Presto algorithms optimize image quality and automatically deliver calibration using an asymmetric paired-T image calibration grid. Presto's bead removal capability detects and removes image registration beads, even when superimposed on surgical instruments, according to SNN.
