A surgical image guidance system from Palo Alto, CA, software developer Cbyon has been installed at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Orange, CA. The Cbyon Suite is designed to facilitate minimally invasive surgery by providing 3-D visualization of patient-specific anatomy.
First developed as a tool for neurosurgery, the company is customizing Cbyon for use in other specialties. The company plans to introduce the system to ear, nose, and throat (ENT) surgeons this week at the Combined Otolaryngological Spring Meetings in Palm Desert, CA.
The ENT version includes integrated tools and image filters developed specifically for endoscopic sinus surgery, as well as other sinus procedures including endoscopic optic nerve decompression, tumor resection, and skull base repair, according to the company.
