Medical device manufacturer Inrad has launched its UltraClip image-guided tissue marker. UltraClip allows a breast lesion to be marked immediately after a core biopsy procedure. The product was developed by the Grand Rapids, MI-based firm in partnership with Dr. Richard Chesbrough of Bloomfield Hills, MI.
If the core biopsy results are abnormal, the deployed UltraClip is readily visible under x-ray, ultrasound or MRI to aid in lesion re-excision, according to the company. In cases where the core biopsy results are benign, UltraClip is left in place as a permanent marker for long-term surveillance, according to Inrad.
