Vital Images and Medtronic sign joint venture agreement

Three-dimensional software developer Vital Images and the surgical navigation technologies division of Medtronic have begun a joint venture to create image-guided surgery products and services. The agreement, initiated in October, will see the two Minneapolis-based companies work on new surgical and therapy planning software and service offerings. The first joint project by the firms will be to incorporate Vital Images’ volume-rendering technology into Medtronic’s image-guided surgery products.
