GE Medical Systems has signed a definitive agreement to buy Visualization Technology, a Lawrence, MA-based developer of electromagnetic image-guided surgery systems.
The firms have been working together since 2000 to develop OEC FluoroTrak 9800, an integrated surgery imaging product combining GE's 1K x 1K imaging technology with VTI's orthopedic and spine fluoro navigation applications. GE of Waukesha, WI, expects to release FluoroTrak 9800 this summer.
The transaction, which is subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions, is expected to close in March 2002. Terms were not disclosed.
