A new business unit of GE Medical Systems has resulted from its acquisition of Lawrence, MA-based Visualization Technology, a developer of electromagnetic image-guided surgery systems. The new unit, GE Medical Systems Navigation and Visualization, will develop and market image-guided surgery systems.
The first product offering from the new business will be OEC FluoroTrak 9800, an integrated surgery imaging product combining GE's 1K x 1K imaging technology with Visualization Technology’s orthopedic and spine fluoroscopic navigation applications. GE, of Waukesha, WI, expects to release FluoroTrak 9800 this summer.
