Canadian cardiovascular imaging developer Novadaq Technologies of Toronto has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for its Spy intraoperative imaging system.
The product, a fluorescent imaging system for use during coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, enables cardiac surgeons to confirm proper placement of bypass grafts and assess the functionality of those grafts while the patient is on the operating room table. The Spy imaging system has been used in more than 1,000 CABG cases in Europe, Canada, and Japan, according to the firm.
