Image-guided surgery (IGS) and stereotactic radiosurgery developer BrainLab said the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston is set to install its BrainSuite iMRI device.
The product is a neurosurgical operating room system that combines IGS, intraoperative MRI, visualization, and data-management technology, according to the Munich, Germany-based vendor.
BrainLab said that M. D. Anderson will be the first hospital in the world to implement a complete BrainSuite iMRI installation with a Magnetom Espree wide-bore MR scanner from Siemens Medical Solutions of Malvern, PA. The installation is scheduled to be completed by January 2006, the company said.
