PoleStar is designed to provide MRI scans for surgical guidance with minimal disruption to conventional surgical workflow and equipment. The system requires minimal OR reconstruction and allows the surgical suite to be used for conventional procedures when the MRI scanner is stored.
PoleStar has added an enhanced surgical pinned headrest, new pediatric horseshoe headrest, and faster reconstruction computer and algorithms.
Medtronic targets neurosurgery centers for the MRI system, which has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance. Clinical applications include intraoperative MRI in brain surgery and the evaluation of resection and complications before a surgical procedure is completed.
