Hitachi Aloka Medical America has partnered with neurosurgical device manufacturer Nico to provide neurosurgeons with real-time, intraoperative imaging to assist with greater extent of resection when accessing brain tumors.
Designed for use with the Nico BrainPath guidance tool, the new Hitachi Aloka ultrasound probe provides real-time intraoperative imaging feedback. This allows surgeons to confirm the location of brain tumors, the proximity of nearby vessels that may be encountered beyond the direct field-of-view, and the extent of the resection.
The new Hitachi Aloka probe is still under development, the companies said.
